SRINAGAR – KARGIL – LADAKH GATEWAY – 07 Nights 08 Days

Distance/Time Taken       :         204 kms Km 6 – 7 hrs drive including sightseeing

After breakfast pick up from hotel and proceed to Kargil which is 204 kilometers from Srinagar. After 2 hrs journey you will reach Sonamarg (The Meadow of Gold) famous for its Landscape and snowcapped high peaks. Enjoy tea/Lunch and take some photos. Get ready for more adventurous drive through Zojila pass which is 3900 mts above the sea level and is the highest pass between Srinagar and Kargil Road. This road remains open from April till Nov and it’s the only road which connects Kargil, Zanaskar & Ladakh with Kashmir valley. Continue driving towards Kargil, you will pass through several villages and within next 3 – 4 hrs you will be in Drass Village which is said to be the 2nd coldest place on earth after Siberia in Russia. Also make a stop at Vijay War Memorial to pay homage to the brave hearts of Indian Army. By the evening, you will reach Kargil. Overnight stay at Hotel in Kargil.

After breakfast embarks on a drive to Leh which is 230 kilometers from Kargil town today you have to ascend three passes. This day will be tiresome but panoramic too. First stop at Mulbekh Buddhist village, visit the ancient rock cut statue of Maitreya Buddha. Proceed further towards Lamayuru & passing thru Namika la Pass (3700 mts) 2nd highest Pass on Srinagar – Leh road then further up cross the highest pass (Fotu la 13749 ft.) on Srinagar Leh route.  At lunch time we will be at Lamayuru oldest monastery. Later stop for photo at lunar like landscapes near Lamayuru Monastery.  Continue drive to next village Nimu a view point of Zanskar river following into Indus also known as Sangam. Final stop make at Magnetic hill is a gravity hill. The hill is alleged to have magnetic properties strong enough to pull cars uphill and force passing aircraft to increase their altitude in order to escape magnetic interference, while in fact, this is a purely optical effect caused by layout of the surroundings. Finally, we reach Leh 3500 Mtrs. Overnight stay at Hotel in Leh.

Hall of Fame: The Hall of Fame, located near the Leh Airfield, is a museum constructed as well as maintained by the Indian Army in the memory of the soldiers who had lost their lives during the Indo-Pak wars.

Shanti Stupa is situated on a hilltop in Chanspa built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu Gyomyo Nakamura. Shanti stupa provides beautiful and panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. Shanti Stupa in Ladakh was built to promote world peace and a symbol of the ties between Japan and Ladakh. In the evening, take a walk to the local bazaar in Leh and enjoy Shanti Stupa.

Leh Palace: is a former royal palace of the Leh Kingdom. Located in Leh city. It is one tourist attraction of Leh city. The 17th century Palace provides spectacular views of Stok Kangri.  Overnight stay at Hotel in Leh.

After delicious breakfast at the hotel drive to Nubra Valley (125 kms) via Khardungla Pass which is situated at a height of 18360 ft and is considered as the highest motorable pass of the world. Once you arrive at Khalsar drive on the left towards Diskit & Hunder Village. Check in at your camp/Hotel. Drive to Hunder Sand Dunes to enjoy Camel Safari (OPTIONAL) on the shabby double -humped Bactrian camels. Hunder is a small village where the Shyok River meets Nubra River. Hunder lies on the ancient silk rout. Hunder is most popular for the camel rides. Overnight stay in Nubra.

After delicious breakfast at your camp drive to Pangong Lake via Shyok. This direct route from Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso has now become more popular in past few years. Drive from Nubra to Pangong via Agham - Shyok drive through Durbuk and Tangtse village situated in the Changthang region of Ladakh. Pangong Lake is salt water, 120 km in length and 6 – 7 Km broad at the longest point. It is bisected by the international border between India & China. Visit the exact location of the famous movie “Three idiots” & enjoy outing along the banks of the lake. One really feels very close to nature at Pangong Lake with its scenic surroundings. Overnight stay at in Pangong. 

Distance and Time Taken :         153 Kms 4 - 5 hrs drive including Sightseeing

During early morning, you can enjoy a photo - session around the lake. Post breakfast drive back to Leh through Changla Pass. .  Enroute visit 3 Idiots School, Thiksey Monastery. 3 Idiots School: The school was featured in a 2007 episode as the Aamir Khan movie 3 Idiots. International donors support the school, where some parts of the 3-Idiots film were shot, as well as Indian celebrities like actor Ameer Khan. Overnight stay at Hotel in Leh.
