Sonamarg

Sonamarg, meaning “Meadow of Gold,” earns its name every summer when its vast alpine meadow turns a brilliant golden hue beneath a crown of glaciers and snow-capped peaks. Situated at 2,800 metres along the scenic Srinagar-Leh highway, this stunning valley is the gateway to Ladakh and home to the famous Thajiwas Glacier, where visitors can walk on ancient ice even in the height of summer. With glacial streams, wildflower-dotted meadows, and mountains reflected in clear blue lakes, Sonamarg is Kashmir’s golden farewell and one of its most magnificent.
