Vaishno Devi

Vaishno Devi is one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites in India, located in the Trikuta Mountains of Jammu & Kashmir at an altitude of about 5,200 feet above sea level. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Vaishno Devi, a manifestation of the Hindu goddess Shakti. Every year, millions of devotees make the approximately 14 km trek from the base camp at Katra to seek the goddess’s blessings. Inside the holy cave, the goddess is represented by three natural rock formations called *pindis*. The journey through lush green mountains and cool mountain air makes it not just a spiritual experience but also a scenic one. It is one of the most visited religious shrines in the entire world.
